Phoenix Vacation

Riley has been up to a lot lately. We finished swimming class. She received a certificate and as proven during our vacation she is not scared of the water at all.

We went for her 15 month check up with Dr. Watson. She weighs 19lbs and 6oz and is 29.5 inches. She is in the 20% for length and 5% for weight. But she is growing at a steady rate and he thought she is doing well. She had to get several shots.

She also has gotten several more teeth. She has 4 front ones on top and 4 front on bottom along with 2 first molars on bottom. We aren't quite sure when she got the molars, just one day they appeared.

On 05/27/08 she took her first step. She also will stand up on her own without holding on to anything. Since then she has taken a few steps at a time.

This past week we went on our first real (out-of-state) family vacation. We went to Phoenix and stayed at a resort. It was actually cooler for the most part in Phoenix than at home. The resort had like 7 pools, including a lazy river and wave pool. She did not really like the lazy river because she had to sit in one of our laps and didn't get to play in the water. Her favorite place was the wave pool. She liked crawling around the shallowest edge. She would go back and forth, in and out of the water. Then when the waves started we sat her on our lap in the shallow water and she just laughed everytime a wave hit her. We went to the Phoenix zoo, twice actually. We went the first day we were there and I think she was just a little overwhelmed from traveling the day before and missing her naps. We made about 2 hours before a complete meltdown. Then Riley and I went back a few days later while daddy hung out with his old roommate Frank. They went and saw Arizona State where Frank works as an athletic trainer and the baseball field where the Diamondbacks play. Riley and I went back to the zoo and saw the other half we missed before. We even road the "train". She did really well for the most part considering we drug her around everywhere. I think it made us slow down from our usual pace for her to take her regular naps and not be in the sun for so long. I think Rhett and I actually are pretty rested which doesn't always happen on vacation.

What a bathing beauty, I can almost hear her giggle. She is growing up so fast, before we know it she will be riding a tricycle.
